These terms apply to your use of Seam, a desktop application for Windows published by IAM_DEV. Installing or using the app means you accept them.
Licence
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Seam on computers you own or control, for personal or commercial purposes. You may not resell, redistribute or sublicense the app, or attempt to reverse engineer it except where that right cannot legally be restricted.
Your content is yours
Seam claims no rights over the text you translate or the translations it produces. Because everything happens on your own computer and nothing is transmitted to us, we never have access to your content in the first place.
Your data lives only on your computer. Translations are stored in a file in your user folder. There is no cloud copy and no backup on our side, so if you delete that folder, uninstall the app or lose the machine, the data cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else. Keep your own backups of anything you need to preserve.
Translation models
Seam translates using an AI model that you download and that runs locally. The model is a third-party component, provided under its own licence terms, and Seam simply runs it on your machine. Downloading a model requires an internet connection and free disk space; the app tells you the size before the download begins.
Accuracy
Machine translation is imperfect. Output may contain errors, omissions or wording that misrepresents the source, and quality varies between languages and between the three available models. Seam is a drafting aid, not a substitute for a professional translator. Do not rely on it alone for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical or otherwise consequential material without qualified human review. You are responsible for checking any translation before you act on it or publish it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Seam to translate material you have no right to use, or to produce content that is unlawful. Since the app runs entirely on your computer, enforcing this is a matter of your own compliance rather than something we monitor — we have no visibility into what you translate.
Price and purchases
Seam is distributed through the Microsoft Store, and any purchase, refund or billing question is handled by Microsoft under its own terms. The app contains no additional purchases and does not charge for translating more text.
No warranty
Seam is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that a translation will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use Seam. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time, with the revised version posted on this page and the date above changed. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
